SACRED SILENCE TRAINING DAY #13

Nothing happened. I felt nothing. Did Nothing. Thought of nothing. Cared about nothing. Wondered about nothing. Hoped for nothing. I was angry about nothing. Sad about nothing. Happy about nothing. Remembered nothing. Heard nothing. Interacted with no one. Noticed nothing. Nothing was revealed to me.

Nothing…..

“…But what I like doing best is Nothing.” “How do you do Nothing?” asked Pooh, after he had wondered for a long time. “Well, it’s when people call out at you just as you’re going off to do it, What are you going to do Christopher Robin, and you say, Oh, nothing, and you go and do it.” “Oh, I see,” said Pooh. “This is a nothing sort of thing that we’re doing right now.” “Oh, I see,” said Pooh again. “It means just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear and not bothering.” “Oh!” said Pooh.” ― A. A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner

I took the students on a 4 month long tour of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and France. We went to Wordsworth’s lakes, Joyce’s tower, Yeats’s island, Hemingway’s Paris, etc etc etc.
One student was bored spitless by each and every spot. She could not care less. I was torturing her.
But then I took them to Ashdown Forest–to Poohsticks bridge, to the Sandy Pit, to the circle of uncountable trees. She was in tears the whole time. Moved beyond telling.
    Go figure.
